Birds of New York

The state of New York has around 500 birds belonging to 23 orders and 67 families, according to the list published by the New York State Avian Records Committee (NYSARC). Various hawks, eagles, and falcons are a few of the largest birds found in New York. The smaller birds include the finches and sparrows.

The eastern bluebird has been designated New York’s state bird since 1970.
