Birds of Colombia

Colombia has the most number of birds in the entire world, with close to 1900 species recorded. This makes up 18% of the Earth’s avian population. The presence of a diverse variety of habitats is the most likely reason behind this high biodiversity.

The Andean Condor is Colombia’s national bird and the largest bird of prey alive today. The country is known for its endemic birds, with notable species, including the Colombian Chachalaca, the Santa Marta Sabrewing, and the Santa Marta Antpitta.
