Birds of New Hampshire

New Hampshire is a sought-after birding destination, mostly during spring, fall, and winter, inhabited by loons, egrets, scoters, warblers, hawks, and many more. Popular birding hotspots include the Great Bay Wildlife National Refuge, Hampton Beach State Park, and Odiorne Point State Park.

The state has 420 species accepted by the New Hampshire Audubon (NHA) and the New Hampshire Rare Bird Committee (NHRBC).

The purple finch, found throughout the year, has been designated as New Hampshire’s state bird since 1957.
