Birds of Brazil

Brazil is home to nearly 1900 birds, with more being discovered constantly. For instance, in 2013, 15 new avian species were discovered, including five antbirds, four woodcreepers, three tyrants, one crow, one gnatcatcher, and one puffbird. This is because it is home to the Amazon Rainforest, making it the nation with the most biodiversity on Earth.

The national bird of Brazil is the Rufous-bellied Thrush. Other notable Brazilian birds include birds of prey like the Crested Caracara and the rare Brazilian Merganser, designated “Critically Endangered” by the IUCN.
