Birds of Colorado

Over 500 birds are identified in Colorado as per the records published by the CRBC or Colorado Bird Records Committee of the Colorado Field Ornithologist. The Clear Creek Canyon region is home to several migratory birds like the Swainson’s Thrush, Yellow Warbler, and Western Tanager.

You would find birds of several sizes here, of which the golden eagle is the largest. Other eagle and hawk species also count among the big birds living here. Of the small birds, the prominent ones include the black-capped chickadee, house finch, and American goldfinch.

The lark bunting has been the official state bird of Colorado since 1931.
