Lizards in New Jersey

Only a handful of lizards are native to New Jersey. These include the northern fence lizard – a subspecies of the eastern fence lizard – and two skink species, the common five-lined skink and the ground skink.

However, certain invasive species have also made their way into New Jersey. These are the Mediterranean house gecko and the Italian wall lizard.
